Reflection of Life

Calitta Denise Hawkins was born June 8, 1983 in Washington, DC to Cal Thompson and the late Val-Jean Thompson. She was the youngest of three siblings. Calitta was educated in Montgomery County Public Schools. She was brought up in church. She loved and served God faithfully. She also sang with the family gospel group, "The Crusaders for Christ." One of her known sayings was "No matter what, I'm still in God's hands; God Got me." One of her favorite songs was "He's an On-Time God."

Calitta loved God first, her children, husband and all her family.

Calitta loved serving the public through her career choices, such as a customer service clerk at the Pentagon. She also enjoyed working as a security guard in various locations. Her favorite job was serving at HIMS, which stands for Health Information Management Specialists at the Unity Health Care Center.

Calitta was a fun-loving, caring person who tried living every day to the fullest. She was very concerned and involved with her children's education.

Calitta is survived by her husband, Joshua Hawkins, Sr.; three children, Khalil Pumphrey, Kyla Hawkins and Joshua Hawkins, Jr.; her father Cal Thompson (step-mother Rachel); grandmother Josephine West; two step brothers, Joshua Evans and Marshall Moye; mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, five aunts; five uncles and a host of relatives and friends.
