Eva Yvonne
Turner
Mar 19, 1939 — Sep 24, 2026
Eva Yvonne Turner, peacefully transitioned from her earthly home, on Thursday, September 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and caregivers at the BonHill Assisted Living Residence in Fort Washington, Maryland. Today, we comfort ourselves knowing that she has officially earned her angelic wings, though she was already an angel to us on earth. She was born in Marshall, Virginia, to the late Edith Louise and William “Bill” Dodson.
Eva was educated through the Fauquier County Public School System, where she attended Asheville Elementary School and William C. Taylor High School in Warrenton, Virginia. She earned a certification in early childhood education from Prince Georges Community College, in Largo, Maryland.
At an early age, Eva gave her life to Christ at First Asheville Baptist Church in Marshall, Virginia. After relocating to Oxon Hill, Maryland, Eva became a devoted member of Oxon Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Bible Study and helped produce the church newsletter. Eva’s faith was a guiding force in her life, and she found great joy in praising God and being part of her church community.
Eva shared 58 beautiful years of marriage with her loving husband George Thomas Turner! Together, they built a life centered around love, family, faith and cherished memories.
Eva was a dedicated and compassionate teacher’s aide at the Henson Valley Montessori School for many years. She was known for her loving heart, quiet strength, and nurturing spirit. Eva found great happiness in spending time with her children and grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. Her home was always a place of love, comfort, and care.
Eva thoroughly enjoyed cooking and she was an awesome Chef" without a doubt. The most delicious meals you would ever want to eat and hoping there would be some leftovers! Her 7-Up and 5-Flavor Pound Cakes, Corn Pudding and Iced Tea were always a favorite for everyone that sat at her table.
Shopping was one of the many ways she enjoyed her “Me Time” with her daughter Ericka. Even if it meant getting up at the crack of dawn, she was always ready for a day of making treasured memories.
Finally, imagine being in a household all by yourself with Dallas Cowboys supporters and YOU the only supporter of the Washington Redskins aka Commanders. Well, she gave her husband George and son Steven the blues whenever the Cowboys and Commanders were playing against each other.
Eva was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend who deeply cherished her family. Her life leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, George, her children, Steven (Veronica) and Ericka (Rico); her grandchildren, Victoria and Valerie; her sister, Jacquelyn Stewart; and many cherished family members and dear friends who will continue to honor her memory and celebrate the beautiful life she lived. She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony “Tony” Allen.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing that Eva’s love, faith, and gentle spirit will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
