James Henry Slaughter, also affectionately known as "Big Jim," was born on June 8, 1941 to the late Thomas Slaughter and Lockie Eugenia Slaughter, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was summoned by God to his eternal rest on January 31, 2022. Jim joined the United States Marine Core in 1960, serving at Camp Pendleton, California; Okinawa, Japan; Camp LeJeune, North Carolina; Viet Nam; Washington D.C; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Quantico, Virginia in a variety of capacities. Jim retired from the United States Marine Core in 1980 as a Master Sargent. He also maintained Top-secret security clearance throughout his military career. In 1980, Jim began a second career with the federal government and was employed for 18 years with a high security clearance. He retired from the Defense Logistics Agency as the Director of Visual Communications and the Chief of Technical Presentations in 1997. Jim has been a mentor to many both professionally and personally. He was a wonderful husband, devoted father, and a great friend to all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife Myra F. Burke-Slaughter; two daughters, one stepdaughter, three grandchildren, one sister, one brother as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
