Reflection of Life

On Sat November 8, 2014, Phyllis Ann Marbray departed this life at her home in Welcome, Maryland, to join her Heavenly Father. Phyllis was born on May 9, 1944 to the late Leon Ross and Annie Ross. She was the oldest of six children. She received her early years of education from the Charles County Public School System. She graduated from Pomonkey High School on 1962 . She was Homecoming Queen and Miss Pomonkey. Later, she attended Morgan State College in Baltimore, Maryland and she graduated from Cortez Peters School of Business in Washington, DC. She married James Nathaniel Marbray on June 24,1966. From that union two children were born, James Gregory Marbray and Robyn Denise Marbray.

Phyllis accepted Jesus as her Lord and savior early in life and was baptized at Zion Baptist Church and remained faithful to the church until her death.

She worked in the Federal Government for thirty-three years, ending her career at the Department of Social Security. Her picture appears on the back of one of their publications. After retiring from the Federal Government, she worked briefly as an Office Assistant in the Prince Georges County Public School System. She left this position to care for dearly beloved Grandson, James Zakhari Marbray.

Phyllis loved to do needle point and crochet. Her work was so professionally done that it could have been sold in any of the stores. She also loved to work in the yard and had numerous flower beds and plants.

She leaves to mourn her devoted mother, Mrs. Annie Ross, her husband J. Nathaniel Marbray, her two children; Gregory and Robyn Marbray; one grandson Zakhari; one uncle, Col. Thomas Ross; three aunts Bessie, Marlene and Regina Ross; her four siblings Larry Ross, Sandra Hall, Chrylle Bluford and Michael Ross; five sister- in- laws Joyce Moton, Patricia Ross ,Delores Marbray, Teresa Ross, and Minnie Marbray; five brother-in-laws David, Alvin and Kenneth Marbray, Willie Bluford and Charles Moton and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
