Reflection of Life

Rita Diane Spencer Brooks, daughter of Eleanor Freer and the late Gaither Spencer born on September1956 in Washington D.C. Rita was educated in the DC Public School System and graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School. She went on to study Cosmetology and Dental Technology and worked as a Comcast Customer Service Representative for 25 years, Rite also worked for BJ's Wholesale club. Rita enjoyed fashion and was always stylish. She loved a great pair of high heels! She loved being a mom and adored her only Granddaughter Aaliyah. She also enjoyed family gatherings and loved to dance.

In 2014 Rita was diagnosed with cancer and courageously fought to the end, never giving in to despair and always keeping a positive outlook on life. Rita was a member of The First Baptist Church of Highland Park. Proceeding her in death is her late husband John Brooks, her father Gaither Spencer and her brothers Aaron Robinson and Walter Spencer. She leaves to mourn her Mother Eleanor Freer; son Akio Lewis (Derrick Lewis); daughter Chanel Clark (Darryl Smith); son-in-law Anthony Clark; granddaughter Aaliyah Clark; sister Janet Belton, Brenda Robinson, and Sheila Lee (Phillip); brothers GregorySpencer, Michael Spencer (Rosie), Robert Speight (Priscilla); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
